Hamilton
I have 20 years of clinical experience working with children and youth in a variety of settings including private practice, community-based mental health, and inpatient mental health settings. I graduated in 1998 with a diploma in Child and Youth Work at Mohawk College, and I’m currently pursuing a Bachelor of Social Work degree at McMaster University.
I work from a client-centred, strength-based approach to support a collaborative therapeutic plan in a safe, non-judgemental way. I believe that all situations are unique to a person; therefore I utilize an integration of evidence-based practices to include Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Solution and Strength Based approaches as well as others that may be appropriate to meet the needs of the individual. As a psychotherapist, my goal is to help you to navigate emotions from life events or experiences that may be impacting you and I strive to help you develop more effective coping skills. I will help you recognize and shift negative thinking patterns that may also be impacting feelings and behaviours to improve the relationship with yourself and others.
